Weekend Training at Hillingdon

I have received the following from Andy Cox at Hillingdon about an open training session that they are holding on Sunday 1st September. I won’t be able to make it myself, due to the SCVAC Final at Ashford, but anyone inerested can contact Andy or perhaps can just turn up.

“Hi All

You may receive this a few times as I have asked Ron to forward to his mailing list.

I hope that some of you can make it!

Cheers
Andy

Most of you will be aware from the item in Ron’s recent newsletter and Essex Walker that Hillingdon AC is hosting an informal training event at Hayes Cycle Track on Sunday 1 September.
This event is not an official race and is not designed to conflict with any established race already firmly fixed in the calendar. We thought that there may be a few friends that would not be travelling long distances next Sunday and may enjoy a stroll on a traffic-free course.
We have access to the circuit from 2pm (slightly later than the original time of 1.30). Ken and I will set out the 2K loop and will cater for anyone who wants to perform over 1, 2, 3 or 4 laps. After the walkers have finished, James Shipley has organised a duathlon informal training session so if you want to cycle to the circuit, you could have two training sessions to enjoy!!
Details are as follows:
Location – http://www.hillingdoncyclecircuit.org.uk/ at UB4 0LP. Entrance is off Springfield Road adjacent to Goals football venue.
Transport – plenty of parking. Do not leave any items on display in your car; there have been break-ins. Routes 427, 607 along Uxbridge Road are a couple of options for those using public transport.
Changing – there are all facilities except showers. The latter are located in Goals – it should be possible to use these as we have a full booking in place at the cycle track.
Cost – £3.
Looking forward to seeing you there – any questions can be emailed to me on andycox52@hotmail.com. Please also call on 07976 355386

Roubaix, 14-15 September

I have been contacted by Sue Rey, who is trying to get together a team.

She says :

“We are trying to rally a couple of members to join in the 24hr relay team at Roubaix. It’s September 14th and 15th. Travel is by ferry on 13th, and return on 16th.”

“We tend to do laps of 20-25 mins then rest while 2 others walk then off again = 50km approx or more in total per person over the 24 hrs.”

“I would appreciate it if you could ask around – as we need to get organised…”

Any responses please to Mark Wall & Sue Rey, suemark.walking@hotmail.co.uk.
