Training this week : on the track, so there will be the normal track charge. Monday : warmups, drills, short racewalking sprints, warmdown. Wednesday : Agility, Balance and Co-Ordination, based on section 9 of Athletics-365 (Please click the number to check out the videos beforehand). This will include a lot of lateral work, so please have appropriate footwear, e.g. trail shoes – most shoes used for racewalking are not designed to cope well with lateral forces. Kit required : large ball, tennis balls.
Racing at the weekend : at 12 on Saturday, the Surrey Walking Club Christmas Cup 5000m race at Tonbridge. At 10:30 on Sunday, Leicester Walking Club’s 10k championship event, where guests will probably be welcome. Also Chiltern League and Oxfordshire League cross-country of course !
