It has been confirmed that as we thought, the 3000m race as part of the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Championships will take place as usual, as part of the Town v Gown fixture on Wednesday 18 May at the Sir, Roger Bannister Stadium, Iffley Road.

The race will be open to guests, will be judged to ‘A’ rules and we hope to have at least 3 judges present so full international rules will apply.

The time has not been finalised at present, probably it will be around 7:30 but be ready from about 7:15.

Entries, both for County Championships and for guests, are either by email to John Sear at john.sear@gtc.ox.ac.uk or (if absolutely necessary) at the results booth on the night. If you are qualified for the County Championships rather than a guest, you should supply your England Athletics registration number, and indicate as usual whether you are qualified by birth, residence, university guest, or member of armed forces stationed in the county. Entry fee is £4, payable on the night. The general entry form for the county championships for Oxfordshire is here and the general entry procedures for Buckinghamshire are linked to from here.

Parking near the stadium will be no easier this year than in previous years : if you need it, contact the Oxfordshire race walking community for advice on travel and parking.

Advice on Hay Fever

Capture

British Athletics have issued advice for athletes for the 2016 season in relation to hay fever. This covers such things as avoiding medications that are also prohibited performance-enhancing drugs; avoiding antihistamines that have a sedative effect; taking your own medications if you go abroad, as you can never be sure of the ingredients of medications sold under a trade name that you are used to using in Britain. More details here.
