Training this week : none will be organised for the 25th or 27th of December as I’m away. Expecting to be back on Thursday or Friday, so something may get organised over FB or email for the weekend . . .
Racing this week : The traditional Boxing Day walk at Preston Park, Brighton, at 10:30am. Organised by Ron Penfold for Steyning AC – usually around 5 miles.
More details are now available of the two February training camps in Leeds, coinciding with the differing half-term dates. The second one follows the British Indoor 5000m Championships (an invitational event) in Birmingham. Basic details here, registration and more details on content here or here.
There’s an opportunity to take part in research into muscular strength and race walking economy. Coaching, training and biometric analysis are free, athletes and coaches have to look after their own transport, accommodation and food. There is a new Premier Inn close by (here), and as a registered athlete with England Athletics you probably have a discount at IHG hotels – their nearest one is the Holiday Inn Express Leeds City Centre.
Training during the week : on Monday, track session, with warmups, drills, sprints and warmdown. Normal track fee will apply, session may change if the weather is bad. On Wednesday, 10k-ish fartlek, don’t forget high-viz clothing. Costumes optional !
Training at the weekend : should do a daylight distance session. Any suggestions ?
Racing at the weekend : None now until after Christmas.
Training during the week : on Monday, no scheduled session, as the Tilsley Park website says they are closed due to the weather, and there is no sign of a thaw before the evening. Cross training time! On Wednesday, I am unavailable due to a family commitment, so you are welcome to do whatever suits at whatever convenient time / venue.
Training at the weekend : Should do a daylight distance session. Any suggestions ?

Nothing major, but clarifications regarding salbutamol, the stimulant DMBA, and CBD oil, and changes with regard to glycerol, alcohol, and intravenous injections and infusions.
If you have medical needs, be sure to check your medications against the new lists and get any Therapeutic Use Exemptions that you may need.
In addition, during 2017 UK Anti-Doping have issued strong guidance for athletes on nutritional supplements – basically, stay away from them, or be very, very careful. More details on the page linked to above.
