Congratulations to Noel, with one bronze medal and one 4th place in her age group in the World Masters Athletics Championships in Malaga last week !

Training this week : on Monday, 10k-11k easy or fartlek session. On Wednesday : threshold session on laps of the estate. Plus track sessions at the usual cost, if required.

Training at the weekend : Should do some if not racing. Any suggestions?

Racing at the weekend : at mid-day on Saturday, a 1-hour race in the Enfield League series, on the track at Lee Valley Stadium. More details in the latest Enfield Walker. Ron would like those intending to enter to notify him as soon as possible.

Training this week : on Monday, threshold session on laps of the estate.  On Wednesday, easy or fartlek session, up to 11k. Plus  sessions on the track, if required. On Thursday, we’re invited to take part in the Headington Roadrunners’ monthly 4 mile time trial, soon after 7 pm near Oxsrad in Marston, Oxford. Anyone interested ? More details of the event here.

Training at the weekend : Should do a longer session. Any suggestions?

Racing in the week :  At 7 pm on Tuesday in Battersea Park, a 5 mile event in the Veterans’ AC series.

Racing at the weekend : No open races.

Coverage of the European Championships : the men’s and women’s 50k events in Berlin start at 7:35 am our time on Tuesday, with an impressive field in the women’s event. BBC2 is on air from 8:30, but no details yet about what events they will be covering. The 20k events, with Tom, Callum, Bethan and Heather competing, are on Saturday morning, with the women starting at 8:05 our time and the men at 9:55. BBC2 is on air from 9 am. The BBC’s online service looks like it may well provide coverage of all walk events, but we’ll have to see. Other coverage may also be available.

Training this week : on Monday, easy or fartlek session, up to 11k. Plus beginners’ sessions on the track, if required. On Wednesday, warmups, drills and intervals on the track, with the usual track fee.

Training at the weekend : If not racing, should do a longer session. Any suggestions?

Racing during the week :  No open races.

Racing at the weekend :  On Saturday at the Allianz stadium, London, at 11:30, 5000m/3000m/1000m races at the London Inter-Club Challenge meeting, with the 5000m counting for the Enfield League. More details in the Enfield Walker. On Sunday in Manchester, from 11:20, 3000m races in the EA / CAU Championships meeting. Standards apply, and you will need to have entered by now.

Training during the week :  on Monday, an extended warmdown following the Masters League race, for those not involved in any other events in the match. On Wednesday, up to a 10k-ish session, easy or fartlek, plus a beginners’ session on the track, if required.

Training at the weekend : Should do a distance session if not racing. Any suggestions ?

Racing during the week : On Monday, as all will be aware, there’s the 2000m races in the Southern Masters League Western Division meeting at Tilsley Park. Women race at 6:30, men at 6:50.

Racing at the weekend :  The only event on Saturday is in Cheshire. On Sunday there is the BMAF Inter-Area Challenge, probably a 3000m race, in Solihull, but you will need to be selected for that and if you have been, you will be sent a timetable.

Congratulations to Gemma, finishing above, second in the England Athletics 20k championships in Leeds. Outside the qualifying time for Berlin, but she was inside it in China earlier this year, so I believe she may still get selected . . .

Training this week : on Monday, easy or fartlek session, depending on fitness and injuries, up to 11k. Plus beginners’ sessions on the track, if required. On Wednesday, warmups, drills and sprints on the track, with the usual track fee. Or easy session if injured.

Training at the weekend : Should do a longer session, if not racing. Any suggestions?

Racing during the week :  no open races.

Racing at the weekend :  Two on Saturday. At 11 am in Leicester, the Jim Sharlott 10k race, also the BMAF 10k road championship event. More details here. Also, a 5000m track race at 11:30 at the Allianz Stadium, London, in the LICC and Enfield League series. More details in the latest Enfield Walker. And on Sunday, 5000m races in the British Athletics Senior Championships at Alexander Stadium. Tough qualifying standards – details here. Closing dates : Monday 25th will be the closing date for the Jim Sharlott 10k race (the BMAF Championship event) in Leicester on Saturday. Also the absolute closing date for the British Championships on Sunday, but the entry process is convoluted and you should have started it by now.

Training during the week :  on Bank Holiday Monday, an easy session ahead of Wednesday’s  County Championship race. Not clear whether Tilsley Park is open – if not, park in Hanson Road and meet outside. On Wednesday, no session.

Training at the weekend : Should resume longer sessions, if not racing. Any suggestions?

Racing during the week : At 7:40 on Wednesday, of course, it’s the Oxfordshire County Championship and Open 3000m race at the Sir Roger Bannister Stadium, Iffley Road. Entries for the County Championship have now closed, entries for the Open close half an hour before the event, but if you haven’t already done so, please let us know your intention to race via the entry form here. As ever, parking at the venue will be difficult so contact us if you need tips, and we can go somewhere local for refreshment / sustenance after the race. (Friends and supporters may be interested in the Open 5000m running races that precede the walk, and limited guest spots are available in the main Town v Gown T&F events – contact us if you’re interested.)

Racing at the weekend :  On Saturday at 12:30, the ever-popular 5 mile race at Moulton, Suffolk, counting for the Enfield League. Details in the current Enfield Walker. On Sunday, the BMAF 10000m track championship at Horspath, Oxford, provisionally timetabled for 12:40 – but if you haven’t already done so you will need to enter TODAY (27th), here.
