Week commencing 27 November 2023

Training this week : on Monday, 10k-ish on the roads. Lights and/or hi-viz clothing of course. On Wednesday, on Copenhagen Drive for some 100m and 200m sprinting practice.

Racing this week : on Saturday at 10:45 at Enfield, the final race in this year’s Enfield League, with races up to 5000m. More details here, and in the current Enfield Walker.

Racing next week : On Saturday 9 December, the third event in the Ray Hall Winter League series, at Lewes, Sussex, with racing starting at 12 noon. Races are up to 5000m and entry standards apply. Full details, including entry links, here – enter by the end of Wednesday 6 December.

Week commencing 20 November 2023

Training this week : on Monday, 10k-ish on the roads. Lights and/or hi-viz clothing of course. On Wednesday, on the track for warmup exercises, hurdles, agility/balance/co-ordination, sprints and stretches. Normal track fee applies. Sessions might change depending on the weather.

Racing this week : none.

Racing next week : on Saturday 2 December at 10:45 at Enfield, the final race in this year’s Enfield League, with races up to 5000m. More details here.

Noel’s funeral : arrangements have been finalised, for 12 noon on Friday 1 December, at Littleton near Winchester. Full details from the funeral directors here.

Week commencing 13 November 2023

Training this week : on Monday, there will be an uncoached session, as this is the evening of the Southern Race Walking Association Annual General Meeting. Those who turn up, can decide what they do. On Wednesday, I’m suggesting a session of 3 x 1k on laps of the estate. Remember lights and/or hi-viz clothing.

Racing this week : on Saturday at Tonbridge, Kent, the Southern Race Walking Association Championships over 5000m, with shorter championship races for U17’s, with races starting at 11:30 am. These are also the Surrey Walking Club Open races, and count for the Ray Hall Winter League. Full details in this month’s Race Walking Record – enter here by Wednesday. And on Sunday at Leicester, the second meeting of the Midland Winter League, with 5k and 10k races starting at 12:30. More details here, entry beforehand is preferred using this form.
